We Still Can't Help It If We're From Florida Compilation 7"

i really love compilations. you get introduced to some really great bands and wish you could hear more from them. then on the flip side there are really bad bands that you wish you never hear again. this 7" compilation however is actually pretty great all the way through. this was the second installment of the florida compilations and it was made in 1992 on Burrito records. tons were pressed because they said that they always wanted there records to be cheap and easy to buy. i really enjoy their thoughts and because of them you can pick this up for around $2.50. this release comes with a fantastic large insert. check it out in the scans.

now on this 7" there is a mix of old and newer bands, well new for the 90's. this comp starts with an EBS track and i honestly thought it was from the 80s. nope, it's a song off of their 1991 release, crazy. next is a song from No Fraud which is awesome. No Fraud's first 7" from 1986 is great. Slap of Reality were a new band as you can probably tell by the sounds of it. it's not bad actually but doesn't fit in with the other songs at all. then Backwash deliver my favourite track on here. the track is from a 3 song demo they did. it sounds very similar to Sin 34. Maggot Sandwich are next. their first two releases are what made them one of my favourite bands. however these two tracks are pretty bad and don't sound anything like the Maggot Sandwich i know. well a Florida punk comp wouldn't be complete without Roach Motel. the song they supply was an unreleased one given to the label by the guitarist on a cassette. then Chickenhead give a pretty great little track. they released only one 7" in the year of my birth 1993. and lastly an obscure song by Milk and Cookies. i doubt they were even a real band. just listen to the 1 second song.

a-side
1. E.B.S.-Police Pricks 5/5 (sounds old.)
2. No Fraud-Identity Crisis 5/5 (love the vocals.)

b-side
2. Maggot Sandwich-Fuck That Funk 0/5 (i love funk.)
3. Maggot Sandwich-Hambone Of The Gods 3/5 (originally called Led Zeppelin sucks.)

overall: 7/10 recommended
a pretty great comp overall. the only bad songs are all over in 5 seconds anyway. so yeah, check out the awesome insert in the scans.

Circle One-Patterns Of Force 12"

well after a long absence i'm back. and i'm coming back with one of my favourite vocalists. everybody already knows all about his stories, like his death, so i won't talk about it. i just really love the way he sings. especially on "Gospel". just a fantastic song. anyway this was recorded and released in 1983 on Upstart Records. this was re-issued two years ago by two labels, Mass Media and Puke n Vomit Records. a great mix of long and short songs on this one. now i downloaded a version of this album a long time ago. the recording was very simple with no effects on the vocals or instruments. now when i bought this re-issue i found myself listening to an album with tons of effects on it. like the massive echoes on his voice, which wasn't on the downloaded version. what does the original 1983 release sound like? effects or no effect? oh well, who cares.

a-side
1. social climbing leeches 5/5 (great opener.)
2. beware 5/5 (nice.)
3. gospel 5/5 (great, favourite song.)
4. survive 3.5/5 (ok.)
5. fading 5/5 (fast and short.)
6. destroy exxon 5/5 (love vocals.)

b-side
1. patterns of force 5/5 (great chorus.)
2. plastic life 5/5 (short.)
3. rapture 5/5 (oooohhhh.)
4. vietnam vets 2.5/5 (meh.)
5. pride 5/5 (love it.)
6. our sword 4/5 (jesus christ.)
7. unity 5/5 (great ender.)

overall: 8.5/10 strongly recommended
great lp from a later stage in the punk rush. thrash without getting too fast on the back and fourth of the snare and hi-hat.

7 Seconds-Old School 12"

from one of my favourite new bands to one of my favourite old bands. 7 Seconds were/are a fantastic band formed in 1980 in Reno. i posted other releases by them which include their 2 first 7"s. everything they did up until 1984 is golden. there is a great LP going around that includes their three early tape releases, which have some great songs on it. the really early stuff is much slower but i've grown to like it, but it's still not close to the fast stuff they do. the last good thing they did was an LP called The Crew. that album is pretty good, but after hearing some of the much rawer versions of the songs in the demo session, i can't really like it as much as i should. everything after that LP is pretty much garbage, with the exception of a few tracks here and there. this 12" posted here was released in 1991 on Headhunter records, but the tracks are from a 1983 demo session. if they had released this in 1983 it would have killed. instead they chose to re-record and these tracks sat for almost ten years. but they did finally get the vinyl release they deserved. these tracks are all fantastic and the production on this is great, really dirty. fantastic vocals by Kevin, one of, if not my favourite vocalists.

a-side
1. you lose 5/5 (crazy.)
3. here's your warning 5/5 (fast.)
4. heavy metal jocks 5/5 (BEST SONG by the band, ever.)
5. these boots are made for walking 5/5 (great cover.)
6. boss 5/5 (i don't know.)
7. young 'til i die 5/5 (love the sound of the drums.)
8. war in the head 5/5 (same as above.)

b-side
1. no class, no way! 5/5 (great!)
2. definite choice 5/5 (way better than the LP version.)
3. i have a dream 5/5 (yeah!)
4. wasted life (ain't no crime) 5/5 (fantastic song, great bass.)
5. #1 rule 5/5 (nice.)
6. out of touch 5/5 (here is a great slower song, love the wa-ohs.)
7. red and black 5/5 (spray-paint.)
8. diehard 5/5 (great singing on this track.)
9. clenched fists, black eyes 5/5 (sadly the last track, but i love the end of the song where everyone's singing.)

overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
one the best recordings of all time, get it from lots of places. i'm sure you are sick of my praising by now.

Authorities-Soundtrack For Trouble 7"

ok i'm back. sorry, i've been busy with a lot of stuff lately. anyway, here's the post. here is a classic 7" by Authorities. no this isn't an original copy released in 1982, but a re-issue by Get Hip Recording in 2010. this is different from the original because they added two songs to it. luckily the tracks are at the end of each side, unlike in between songs like on the Freeze 7" re-issue. the two added songs really aren't even in the same vein as the others. they are mostly slow. anyway the other tracks are killers. you probably already have this, but still.
1. achtung! 5/5 (great opener.)
2. i hate cops 5/5 (piggers.)
3. between the thighs 3.5/5 (when this song gets going, it's fantastic! but the 1 minute and 30 second slow opening part sucks. the opener could have been good if it was shorter.)
4. radiationmasturbation 5/5 (great.)
5. shot in the head 5/5 (slower tempo, but great.)
6. LSD 0/5 (is the 3 minutes of slow garbage over yet? bad.)
overall (original 4-track 7" only): 10/10 strongly recommended
buy this, lots of places have this now, snag it for cheap. now i'm off to continue watching the Bruins playoff game, there down 1-0. they better score soon. speaking of sports, how about Prince Fielder? he's socking bucko dingers like crazy lately. too bad the Brewer never play the Blue Jays so i could see Fielder play. speaking of the Blue Jays, i went to a game last week, it was good. i also went to the last Sabres home game, and they are playing there first playoff game right now. that's right, i love sports.

Night Birds-EP 7"

(((re-post from April 29/2010@8:32pm)))
(((this is a re-post cause Night Birds are awesome and they deserved a better rip. also cause someone was looking for this 7" so i figured i give him the best rips i can, hope he comments. listening to these rips compared to my old ones, there a few more crackles this time. now read what i wrote a while ago.)))

RAMONES SUCK!! but anyway. i always start a post with "time for some," and i've got nothing better to say so, time for some new hardcore punk/surf. this was released in april of this year, so i just received it in the mail. the great thing about this record is the presentation. all 500 records were hand made, hand cut and hand stamped. that's why the title is a little faded. lyrics and stuff at bottom. i bought this for only $4.50 at Grave Mistake records. get the download then go over there and buy it. it's all gold, too me. definitely the best 7" of the year so far. notice the similar sound of The Gift Givers song and the circle jerk's song World Up My Ass. i love the second track Thrilling Murder. the lyrics are about how the human-race is useless and they should all be killed. great stuff.
1. prognosis: negative 5/5 (great.)
2. thrilling murder 5/5 (best song, fast and great lyrics.)
3. unanswerable 5/5 (nice.)
4. the gift givers 5/5 (vocals are great.)
5. harbor rats 5/5 (instrumental surf song, and great.)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
this was released on Grave Mistake records and with the small press run it's going to go fast. so get yours today, and get tons of other stuff they have.

Electric Deads-EP 7"

time for some more female fronted punk. this dates way back to 1982. recorded in one take at Marco Polo Sound. released originally on Electro Static records, but the one you see here is the re-issue by Noise and Distortion records from 2010. a very good re-issue if you ask me. a little pricey though. anyway about the music. hardcore punk as you would come to guess from '82. now Bibi's voice can get a little annoying but there is only 4 tracks so it's not too bad. they released three 7"s in their lifetime. i originally got a download of this from KBD and he didn't include the last song because he didn't like it. well i actually do like it. that was basically my reasoning for uploading this. well i'm off to tend to my flooded basement.
1. order 4/5 (great.)
2. zig zag 4/5 (nice.)
3. fish in a pool 4/5 (my favourite ED track.)
4. compact chaos 4/5 (nice.)
overall: 7/10 recommended
buy this from the link above. i would have bought all three of their releases if the price weren't so high. so yes, i only bought this one (from Hits and Misses).

Bad Influence-War's No Fun Demo 7"

alright here is some great hardcore punk. i've got a massive headache but i want to get this up for Dave G. and i'll tell you why. we both got the pre-orders from No Way and this 7". they ran out of this 7" and i wasn't gonna get a copy. i asked Dave if he got the same news, but he was in fact getting a copy. then he said i could have his copy. so long story short, thank you so much Dave! can't thank you enough. anyway, this is some great punk. these guys started from the S.F. Bay Area. this was recorded in 1983 and finally released by Who Cares? records in 2010. 250 pressed and 50 on a different sleeve. i've got number #230. back in the day, Bad Influence sent there demo to Tim Yohanon from MRR, and he booked them to play their first show with Minor Threat. pretty cool. so on this demo, the vocalist wrote all the lyrics and the guitarist wrote all the music. i love the vocals on this. great drum sound too. short songs with lyrics included in the scans so you can all sing along.
1. war's no fun 5/5 (nice.)
2. mental war patient 5/5 (love the guitar riff.)
3. irs 5/5 (great.)
4. do what you want 5/5 (yep.)
5. bad influence 5/5 (good.)
6. always on my ass 5/5 (love this song, my favourite.)
7. i don't care 4/5 (go.)
8. maximum punishment 4/5 (nice.)
overall: 8.5/10 strongly recommended
this is sold out from everywhere. so go hunt for it. i wish i could write more but my head hurts so much. i'm going to bed.

The Freeze-Live At Cape Cod 1980 12"

i can't remember the last time i posted a live album, if i even posted one at all. anyway here is one. it's snowing like a mad man out there and i've been shoveling all day. what does that have to do with this post, nothing. why am i telling you this, no idea. so i'll just jump into the post. The Freeze were a great band and everyone must know them. they released some other great stuff up until 87'. this record was released just after their first 7" and it is referred to by Clif in this Cape Cod set. this was recorded in 1980 onto a tape. from that tape, Schizophrenic records out of Hamilton released it on LP. so the quality isn't the best and the sound fades in an out but only a couple of times. the quality i think is very good from being from an old tape. so much drive on these recordings. screeching vocals which i love. great set. this is my personal favourite Freeze stuff. get it now. nothing else to say.
1. before i hit that rubber room 5/5 (yes they wrote this a long time ago and then included it on their 86' LP.)
2. the water tastes funny 4/5 (nice.)
3. they won't unlock the door 5/5 (amazing, my favourite track. great riff.)
4. my megawalki land 5/5 (vocals!)
6. one sixth of a person 5/5 (lyrics.)
7. don't forget me tommy 5/5 (with this version, it doesn't sound like a new wave song. such a great version.)
8. the duh family 2 4/5 (good.)
9. refrigerator heaven 4/5 (yes i spelled refrigerator wrong but who cares.)
10. i'm too good for you 5/5 (on 86' LP under a different name.)
11. leap from the ledge 5/5 (great gallop.)
12. uncle fred 5/5 (nice.)
13. rebels with a cause 5/5 (great great great chorus.)
14. skeletons in your closet 5/5 (fast.)
15. halloween night 4/5 (a 7" song.)
16. one way conversations 5/5 (great chorus too.)
17. they'll be trouble if you hide 5/5 (awesome song, so in your face!)
18. i hate tourists 5/5 (i wouldn't know.)
19. the duh family 4/5 (it is listed on the back as "So Long Ago" but i believe it is "The Duh Family.")
overall: 9.5/10 strongly recommended
buy this from the link above, they might have some left. this is a must have. 200 copies on swirl green and black, which i have. some with signed insert, not what i have. a great post for the new month.

White Flag-Within You Without You 7"

well it was my birthday on the 17th so i've been a bit busy. well i'm here now. anyway it's time to unleash another Lost and Found records gem. this time it's White Flag. when i first heard the band name, i thought they were just a bad Black Flag ripoff. but on closer inspection i was quite wrong. this band is really good, and not like Black Flag at all. they started in 81' i think. even up to 86' these guys were releasing great stuff. this was recorded in 86'. the a-side being in the studio and then the b-side being live tracks. if anybody has their album "r is for rocket" please share it with me. i really want to hear it. this record comes on clear vinyl and was released in 1990. i really like the vocals. really catchy music too. grab it!
1. within you without you 5/5 (fantastic!)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
really good hardcore punk from past the mid 80's. i'm sure it's cheap. i got the Lost and Found box set from Hits and Misses a while ago for not much money.

Anti-Cimex/Anarkist Attack 7"

(((re-post from Dec. 8/09@6:31pm)))
(((no i don't have the original copy, but i do have the bootleg. the bootleg is a split with the Shitlickers 7" on the a-side (i'll post that next and more info on that post about the bootleg). this post just got a comment and inspired me to post it. i only have two things left to say: 1. elliott where are you? 2. go to this. it's awesome!)))
here's a nice swedish hardcore release for you. this record is great but all of their following records are bad. after this record they went totally CRUST. but anyway. bullshit recordz released this 7" in 1981. this record was the first release by bullshit recordz, the second was the absurd-ep and then the label went bankrupt (rumored to be not true). this is very rare. some parts fast, some parts slow, it's all good.
1. svaveldioxid 4/5 (good song.)
2. heroindod 5/5 (better song.)
3. drommusik 4/5 (a song.)
4. anti-cimex 5/5 (best song.)
overall: 9/10 strongly recommended
come on bootleggers, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! **(this statement is false, i was unaware of the bootleg at the time of the original posting of this record)**

Reagan Youth-Youth Anthems For The New Order 12"

ok i've got a double post for you today. so you hear about everybody loving the original 12" opposed to "volume one" 12" put out by Red Archives records. everybody hates how the re-issue sounds. well i guess one guy thought, "hey, what if i put both on a 12"?" well he did and here you have it. the a-side is the original and the b-side is volume one. i actually like volume one quite a bit. i like that you can hear the bass better. also they added the fantastic "no class" song. probably my favourite reagan youth song. anyway, this bootleg looks exactly like the original. even the record labels. it doesn't tell you that there are 10 other songs on the b-side. i have no idea who even made this bootleg but the outer plastic sleeve said 10o0 pressed. released when? i don't know. all i know is that you need this record (or records). there is also a cd of rare and live tracks which is pretty good as well. download the scans for all of the massive foldover sleeve. ok so now the tracks. first download is the original and seconds is volume one. enjoy the(se) masterpiece(s)!

YOUTH ANTHEMS FOR THE NEW ORDER
1. new aryans 5/5 (great.)
2. reagan youth 5/5 (yeah!)
4. i hate hate! 5/5 (great song.)
5. degenerated 5/5 (hum.)
6. u.s.a. 5/5 (great yet again.)
7. (you're a) gonowhere 5/5 (are you?)
overall: strongly recommended

VOLUME ONE
(contains remastered, unreleased and different version songs.)
1. reagan youth 5/5 (bass.)
2. new aryans 5/5 (ooo.)
3. (are you really) happy? 5/5 (again, well?)
4. no class 5/5 (best reagan youth song.)
5. i hate hate! 5/5 (me too.)
6. degenerated 5/5 (yep.)
7. (you're a) gonowhere 5/5 (again, are you?)
8. u.s.a. 5/5 (nice version.)
9. anytown 5/5 (listen to the amazing drum fills.)
10. in dog we trust 4/5 (just a little bit of a drag.)
overall: 9.9/10 strongly recommended

this is actually a good re-mastering job (volume one), unlike most times. get this bootleg. it did. also go to Maximum Rocknroll .com for other reagan youth demo tracks.

State-No Illusions 7"

going back to straight up hardcore punk on this post. state released this in 1983 on Statement records. they released some other stuff but i've been told that it's crap compared to this. i think this was posted at kbd but only two tracks. so here it is in it's entirety. it's been bootlegged on reagan era and re-issued by Havoc records. get the great insert in the scans, includes lyrics. not really much too say so here's the music.
1. subvert 5/5 (nice.)
2. new right 5/5 (fast.)
3. attention 5/5 (great track.)
4. hard line 3/5 (weaker.)
5. no illusions 5/5 (fantastic riff, vocals, drums. just amazing!)
6. police state 5/5 (good.)
7. girl violence 3.5/5 (weaker enders on each side.)
overall: 8.5/10 strongly recommended
get this nice Havoc re-issue. or the original. i don't care, i already have it.

False Prophets-EP 7"

(((re-post from Feb. 3/10@8:50pm)))
i had the original post to this but i didn't like it. so i'm re-writing this all different. great band. their first 7" is quite good too but not as great as this release. this was released by worn out brothers records in 1982. these guys were on the new york thrash tape and i must say, i don't really like their songs on it. Good Clean Fun is the fastest and best song i've heard by them and it's on this release. on the flip side the song is slower and has a synthesizer or something. i still like it, although it's 4:13. nice design and on the back it says "this record is not worth more than $2." i wish that were true. i bought this for $24, not bad, $12 for each song, well more like $20 for the first song and $4 for the other. the inside has all the lyrics clearly typed. it's my first scan and first rip with my new machines, enjoy!
1. good clean fun! 5/5 (labelled as VIOLENCE side. fantastic, one of the best songs in punk.)
2. functional 4/5 (labelled as SEX side. slower, longer but good, cause of vocals.)
overall: 9/10 strongly recommended
pick it up, great record to add to your collection.

Nardcore Compilation 12"

i've been on a kick about just buying original records lately. this is not the original comp but i don't care, it still rips! i bought this on my excursion to hits and misses (read here). in that post, sorry i spelt the name wrong. i thought it was just hit not hits. i still make the same mistake. anyway, it was sitting on the shelf next to reagan youth (the remastered one). this was originally released in 1984, but i have the reissue from 2009 i think it is. the cover is a little altered, but no big deal. the thing i don't like is that on the back there is a big cd ad, right in the middle, bizarre. if you read it, it says it includes a cd with some nardcore 7"s on it. decent cd, pretty decent. my copy is on white vinyl. there are 20 songs on this. i downloaded it from another source and it was missing 8 of the songs. so i was surprised how good the other tracks were. i'm not going to go through all the bands cause that will take a while and i'm not up for it. now on to the tracks.
1. ill repute-president 5/5 (fantastic song. it's the reason i bought this comp.)
2. ill repute-sleep walking II 4/5 (great band, my favourite from oxnard.)
3. ill repute-it's not gonna happen to me 5/5 (great song, great vocals.)
4. scared straight-skate to live 5/5 (doesn't sound like scared straight i know but great.)
6. rat pack-tell me how 4/5 (rat pack gives us a metal taste on the a side.)
7. rat pack-w.w. 84 4/5 (good.)
8. habeas corpus-steal you blind 3/5 (could have been tossed and i wouldn't care. but it's short so.)
9. agression-the smell 5/5 (great tracks on here by the band.)
10. agression-calling for you 5/5 (fantastic ender to the a side.)
11. r.k.l.-u.s. steal 5/5 (ooo.)
12. r.k.l.-lies 4/5 (nice tracks by this band.)
13. r.k.l.-no respect 5/5 (cool.)
14. false confession-feline 1/5 (slow and long. also bad.)
16. the rotters-men 0/5 (similar to angry samoans' homosexual. i also hate this track.)
17. dr. know-circle of fear 2/5 (too long and i don't like dr. know in the first place.)
18. a.f.u.-high on the hog 5/5 (back to goodness.)
19. stalag 13-statistic 5/5 (GREAT!!! the drum sound is amazing, followed by amazing vocals. best song on here.)
20. stalag 13-do it right 5/5 (more on the funk side, and who doesn't love funk.)
overall: 8.5/10 strongly recommended
great comp to own, only a few not so good tracks. pick up a copy today! now i'm off to buy some original records (except for that damn rebel truth album that went for $51, the guy got ripped).

Necros-Conquest For Death 12"

(((re-post from Jan. 1/10@8:44pm)))
(((well here are the downloads. also i added scans so you can see for yourself and judge what pressing it is. good stuff. well i'm done. zip file at bottom.)))
now for one of my personal favourite bands, NECROS. first off, what the hell is with the cover? you can't even read the album title and it's even worse for the song titles on the back, you can barely read them. i guess it's suppose to be a guy fighting himself, but whatever, the cover doesn't matter. one pressing in the US and one in Germany. on the US press the title is blue and the labels are lime-green, but on the German press the title is green and the labels are lime-green, it also has an extra track from the conquest for death 7". on my copy the title is blue but the labels are yellow. i guess it's a boot or something. i picked it up in a local record store for $20 (the same place i picked up the first SS Decontrol 12"). i didn't know what it sounded like but i liked all the other Necros releases so i thought i'd snag it (also because i saw them on ebay go for over $50). the a-side is great and the b-side is a bit slower. definitely get their other releases, except for "tangled up" it's just metal, well actually elliott you might like it, ha.
1. search for fame 5/5 (great, fast opener.)
2. tarnished words 5/5 (great, a little slower.)
3. no one 5/5 (great, fast too.)
4. satisfy 5/5 (shortest and fastest song, could be on the IQ32 7".)
5. bad dream 3/5 (much slower, but when it's fast it's good.)
6. police brutality 5/5 (i loved this song on their first 7". this version is even better.)
7. A.S.F.B. 5/5 (great song.)
8. conquest for death 0.5/5 (didn't like it on the 7", don't like it now.)
9. count me out 4/5 (nice.)
10. change 2.5/5 (too slow.)
11. crying form 5/5 (here we go.)
12. face forward 3/5 (where did their accents come from all of a sudden.)
13. friend to all 3.5/5 (good closer.)
overall: 8/10 strongly recommended
they should have made a 7" out of the a-side. get it on eBay and visit their own label TOUCH AND GO RECORDS website (i won't say anything about them, you know what i'm talking about).

The Fix-EP 7"

(((re-post from Sept. 21/09@10:10pm)))
(((oh sorry for the lack of posts. been busy. here is a little re-post to tide you over until i post something huge. so i just got this in the mail a week ago along with the new negative lifestyle 7". the record is massively warped, well my copy is. it also makes this weird noise every time it spins. you can't really tell when the music is playing but at the beginning of vengeance you can hear it as he says, "go ahead." this was probably the shortest post i ever did. well i'm off to the plant, then to the duff brewery.)))

short post tonight, but fantastic record. they only recorded about 7 songs and these are the 2 best.

1. Vengeance 5/5 (one of the best songs out of hardcore.)
2. In This Town 5/5
(another great, fast song.)

overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
get the LP with all their recordings and a live set. it's called "at the speed of twisted thought..." available anywhere.

Minor Threat-Live At Buff Hall 7"

well finally i'm back. time for some bootlegs. this is a great live set by minor threat recorded in 1982. you can actually hear Ian's voice. most live stuff you can't even hear him because he always gives the mic to the crowd. this was released on the infamous Lost and Found records. there were two presses, weird for a bootleg. the first press has a hard-paper cover and the second press cover is more flimsy, like the one i have. i think the record is great all the way through. you will notice that the song "it follows" is entitled "it follows me". Ian introduces the song as "it follows me" so they must have changed it when they released their LP one year after. enjoy!
1. 12XU 5/5
3. filler 5/5
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
it always goes for really cheap on ebay so get it.

Graven Image-Kicked Out of the Scene 7"

(((re-post from Dec. 16/09@10:24pm)))
here's a great unknown 7". i bought it a while ago for only $10. there's one on ebay now for $94, wow. i can't find any info on this band but i don't think they did much after this 1983 release. most of this record is just thrashed out, but very tight. the singer's got a pretty high pitched voice, but not even close to being annoying. i love how the instruments sound, the drums sound sick, very tight snare. you can hear some mistakes but it's so tight. just look at the cover, you know it's going to be good. lyrics on the last track can be confusing, saying to punks that you shouldn't talk bad about god because you might need him someday (his words).
1. day after 5/5 (sweet opening, drums then a sick bass riff.)
2. close your eyes 4/5 (fast.)
3. operation shrink 2.5/5 (too slow.)
4. wrong way to utopia 5/5 (great vocals on this track.)
5. double life 5/5 (crazy thrashed out drums.)
6. dear abby 4/5 (i need your help.)
7. nails and thorns 3/5 (hardcore.)
overall: 7/10 strongly recommended (just for the drums.)
this is pretty rare, but keep checking eBay, it will pop up, some time, hopefully, for you, that's it.

Bored Youth-Touch and Go 7"

(((re-post from Feb. 11/10@8:03pm)))
(((now you can enjoy the greatest demo i've ever heard.))) great hardcore punk with a really bad recording (which is great), well it's a demo, what do you expect. this was recorded way back in 81'. Touch and Go records was set to put this out in 82' but that never happened. this was eventually released in 90' on that infamous German label, Lost and Found records. first pressing on red vinyl and second pressing on green. if this was released in 82' it would get way more attention then it does today. great raging hardcore with great vocals, sometimes it hard to hear the drums thou. when i first played this i couldn't hear the drums, i was waiting for them to kick in, but i couldn't hear anything. so i turned up the volume and there you go. not one slow moment on this whole record, well the last song breaks it down a bit, but they need the breather right?
1. warning 5/5 (great opener.)
2. sympathy 5/5 (great guitar riffs.)
3. bored youth 5/5 (all about the bass on this track.)
4. misfit 5/5 (fast, great vocals.)
5. to label is the limit 5/5 (great lyrics.)
6. they don't have the right 5/5 (yep.)
7. youth culture 5/5 (the vocalist is so good.)
8. no chance 5/5 (all good.)
9. shock value 5/5 (great guitar and back-ground vocals.)
10. fight 5/5 (nice.)
11. outcast 5/5 (great back-up vocals.)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
i can't give this less any thing else than a perfect score. with it only being released in 90' it's much easier to obtain. go on ebay, $10-20, not a bad price at all. at least get a download now!

Zero Boys-Vicious Circle 12"

after raggin' on their first 7" i thought i'd review my favourite release by the band. Zero Boys are one of my favourite bands. this was one of my first hardcore records i owned (cd, back when i hated vinyl, until i realized vinyl is way better and all the bands i liked released vinyl). if you like the ramones you probably like their first 7", but i don't at all. it's very slow and sounds exactly like the ramones. in the liner notes of this record it says that the singer heard what some of the bands were releasing and he said, "we got to play way faster!" it's pretty funny, and a wise choice. as i said above i have the cd. i bought it when i was first listening to this genre. i was looking at random cds in the "punk" section and came across this (and the History record). they looked pretty punk and the back said it was from 82' so i got it. the History cd has the first 7" on it too. so naturally i thought that eps were better than albums, so i listen to the ep first. i thought, "man i just wasted my money" but then i listened to the first track "drive in" then i was hooked. this was originally released on Nimrod records in 82'. this record is not boring at all unlike some hardcore LPs, i like that the songs are all pretty much one minute long. great vocalist. the band reformed and are still playing today.
1. vicious circle 5/5 (raging hardcore. contains the only swear word on this record, showing that hardcore can be obtained without profanity *hint- 7 seconds.)
2. amphetamine addiction 5/5 (great vocals.)
3. new generation 5/5 (paul's a great singer.)
4. dirty alleys/dirty minds 3.5/5 (good.)
5. civilization's dying 5/5 (great vocals and drums.)
6. livin' in the 80's 4/5 (much better version than the one on the 7".)
7. drug free youth 5/5 (great lyrics.)
8. down the drain 5/5 (golden.)
9. outta style 5/5 (crazy drums.)
10. you can touch me 4/5 (nice.)
11. forced entry 5/5 (bass.)
12. hightime 5/5 (great lyrics.)
13. charles' place 5/5 (nice slower faster combo, even though it's all fast.)
14. trying harder 4/5 (a little slower, but great ender track.)
overall: 9.5/10 strongly recommended
one of the best records of all time. get the reissue LP, it's of great quality. hopefully when i get some more cash i'll get the LP version, but for now i'll stick with my cd. done.
