Chronic Disorder-"Spit Man And The Masters Of The Universe"/"Big Smelly Fish" 12"

yes it's time again for my favourite band, chronic disorder. another limited as hell release, only 300. silk screened cover by the band themselves in 1985. i love the stains of each colour on both sides, greatly done. see the scans/pics at bottom. the lyric sheet was scanned so you can sing along to your favourites. my goal is to get Spit to comment on this, wishful thinking. great mix of different styles of music on this. i don't know the actual title to this album but the labels say "spit man and the masters of the universe" and "big smelly fish" so that's what i'm going with. the sound varies with each song. the loudest songs being track 2 and 3 and the quietest is the last track, so crank it up on that song. one of the great bands that didn't go metal in the later 80's and thank god for it. they released another lp after this that is quite different. it has some great tracks and some weird tracks. then they released another lp on posh boy and is said to be the worst posh boy release. i've only heard two tracks from it, but they are great tracks so i don't know what the problem is.
i looked for this forever. i looked on ebay everyday. i searched on google until the 50th page. then i realized, wait what about How's Your Edge. so i went into the swap department and found 4 people who owned it. i contacted all of them and only one responded. some guy from buffalo, and we reached an amount. thank you martin krajewskri.
"spit man and the masters of the universe" side
1. the final line 5/5 (great opener. the beginning sounds off time but that's what's great about the band.)
2. not funny (fascists cliques) 5/5 (great and loud. love the cow bell parts.)
3. fire 5/5 (greatest track, loud and amazing.)
4. amnesia 4/5 (slower song.)
5. my god 5/5 (all parts great.)
6. waiting 5/5 (on one of the big city comps.)
7. a sort of serenade 5/5 (fantastic guitar soloing. catchy.)
8. i see red 5/5 (they must have recorded this song a million times and every time it's great.)
"big smelly fish" side
9. a waltz/blood and honor 5/5 (great opening to one of my favourite chronic disorder songs.)
10. the gods are laughing at us 5/5 (straight ahead punk.)
11. nostalgia 3.5/5 (slower too.)
12. cold war 5/5 (i think it's "spit rants" (from first album) with a different name and added parts.)
13. america 5/5 (catchy too.)
14. away 5/5 (slower but great vocals,)
15. starting over 5/5 (always loved this song.)
16. leave us alone 5/5 (fantastic drum beat, vocals, everything. CRANK THIS TRACK TO MAX! at the end there is a backwards part and i reversed it and i think he says "we keep getting off beat" or something like that, decide for yourselves.)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended (had to give this a perfect score even though nostalgia is a little weaker.)
i doubt you'll find this anywhere else. i should name this site, "The Chronic Disorder Praise Blog."

Chronic Disorder-EP 7"

(((re-post from Mar. 17/10@12:20am)))
(((re-post from Jan. 1/10@12:00pm)))
(((alright i bet you won't see this anywhere, not the record, but the fact that it's been re-posted twice, two times. the first rip was bad and didn't show off the greatest of this record. added new scans, but one flaw. the first scan of the cover was from my old scanner and it was the only scan that looked great. now i scanned it on my new scanner and the scanner didn't pick up the fluorescent spray paint. well you'll see them both anyway. now add this to your top 5.)))
i decided to re-post this record and add mp3s, which i will be doing to possibly many previous posts. the reason is because this is one of the greatest records of all time and at the same time one of the rarest. limited to 300 copies and never any type of repress or bootleg. thanks to punk not profit for turning me on to this. as soon as i heard it i immediately went out and searched for it. after a long time of searching i finally found a copy on ebay. i knew this was going to go high so i contacted the seller to ask him to buy it now. we reached a price and the next week it arrived in the mail. i opened it up and since, never stopped playing it. the packaging is a little weird, for a couple of reasons, but amazing cause it was all done by the band. for one the cover is not attached so there is two sleeves. the one has a flap with lyrics on the flap. which brings me to the second reason, all the lyrics aren't written down, just some of them. the last reason is the song listings. on the back cover it looks like the first song is blood and honor, but it says that blood and honor is on the b-side. also on the back cover the last song on the b-side is called spit rants but on the record label it is blank there. anyway, you can tell these guys had a good sense of humour. there are three members in the band but only two on the cover. the back cover states "rich does not appear on the cover because he went to the beach instead." the singer was only 16 and the other two were 18 and 19 when this was recorded in 83'. their other releases don't come close to the greatness of this. download and enjoy (you better like it). sloppy, they make mistakes, but those are the best parts. it shows that the band is real. i love mistakes and sloppy play.
1. the final line 5/5 (great opener.)
2. a job, a car, a wife 5/5 (great. it's the sloppiest track.)
3. (untitled) 5/5 (nice.)
4. blood and honor 5/5 (classic.)
5. starting over 5/5 (great lyrics.)
6. spit rants 5/5 (good.)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
very rare so get it here. look for it on ebay, you might eventually find it.

Necros-EP 7"

(((re-post from Nov. 4/09@10:10pm)))
(((well this is a post from way back in the day. it was back when the background colour was blue so that's why some of the words are in colour here. it looked good at one point, trust me. like i said in the comment, there was only 100 of these pressed by those wackos at touch and go record. the record i have is the boot. it sounds really good. now read my old incorrect and childish review and get the download.))
alright, everyone just hates this release. they all say the sound quality is bad, the lyrics suck and the songs are to simple. WHAT? THAT'S WHAT HARDCORE PUNK IS! that just makes me so mad. to be honest this is one of my favourites. yeah it's sloppy but that's what makes it the best.

1. sex drive 5/5 (great fast opener.)
2. police brutality 5/5 (classic.)
3. better late than never 5/5 (great bass at the start. crazy vocals.)
4. caste system 5/5
(listen to the drum fills, all RIM. yeah!)

overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
buy it, listen to it at max volume and quit complaining.
(look at all the colours, reminds me of the eddie and the subtitles review.)

The Freeze-Rabid Reaction 12"

finally i got this beast up. of course this is a 12" so the pictures of the sleeve aren't the best. you can see a bit of my tile floor but that's what happens. i think i did a pretty damn good job on the pictures of the vinyl. i also scanned the lyrics and a huge page on song meanings. i also have a signed cardboard thing by Clif which is sweet. anyway, on to the music. this was originally released by Modern Method records in 1986. this was the last record before they were put on hiatus. then in 2007 Schizophrenic records re-issued this beautifully. Schizophrenic records are located in Hamilton (only a short drive from where i live). for being released after the first wave of hardcore, this record sounds like it was straight from 83'. great vocally, great musically, get it today. even though the songs can reach 3 minutes at times, it never gets boring.
1. warped confessional 5/5 (great opener.)
2. nothing left 4/5 (nice, long intro though, but cool.)
3. misguided memories 5/5 (great song.)
4. extremities 4/5 (great vocals.)
5. no one's coming home 4/5 (nice drums.)
6. trouble if you hide 5/5 (loved this song on the Not LA comp., love it here.)
7. insanity 3.5/5 (nice. it was originally going to be sung by the guitarist but he couldn't reach the notes anymore, but you can still here him in the chorus.)
8. echoes 4/5 (guitar.)
9. princess die 5/5 (neutral milk hotel sounds like this song.)
10. before i hit the rubber room 4/5 (nice ender.)
overall: 9.5/10 strongly recommended
golden album and everyone should have it, along with all of the other Freeze's releases. they're all re-issued so no reason to not have them. now i'm off to work on my zine.

The Victims-Television Addict 7"

ok, one more kbd record. this is from 77' and the second song is incredibly fast. don't be confused with the crappy Victims band from USA from the same time period. these guys are from Australia.
1. television addict 5/5 (great.)
2. flipped out over you 5/5 (so fast, amazing.)
overall: 10/10 strongly recommended
one on ebay just went for over $200 (it didn't even have a sleeve.)
get a download here: 7"PUNK

N.V. Boys-Rebellion 7"

here's an extremely weird release. this is from 88' but sounds like 81'. i got this from 1000 ASPIRINES. i've never seen this anywhere besides that site. these guys are from holland but sing in english (BGK comes to mind.)
1. rebellion 5/5 (great opening.)
2. kill your brain 2/5 (not my favourite.)
3. on my own 5/5 (best song, great drumming, great lyrics.)
4. a kids game 4/5 (good guitar and, in and out vocals.)
5. my eyes 2.5/5 (decent.)
6. talking crap 3.5/5 (good ender.)
overall: 8/10 strongly recommended
very rare, just get the download listed above (click on "1000 ASPIRINES" up there, if that needed to be said.)

Savage Circle-EP 7"

i know nothing about this band except that they were from NY. but i do know that this is a great 7". short, fast songs with good lyrics and echoed vocals. this was reissued by "big city records". the reissue contains two unheard songs on the b-side and moved all the original songs onto the a-side. but even that is hard to find.
1. kill yourself 5/5 (great.)
2. we don't have it 5/5 (you don't.)
3. don't do it 5/5 (really short.)
4. hardcore rules 5/5 (ripping bass.)
5. kill corps 4/5 (fast.)
overall: 9/10 strongly recommended
almost a perfect record, i NEED it.

Kraut-Kill For Cash 7"

good NY hardcore band. this is their first 7" and everything after this is good too. the first song "kill for cash" has some sort of los lonely boys guitar riff at the beginning that just makes me laugh.
1. kill for cash 4/5 (funny.)
2. true colours 3/5 (good but a little long.)
3. cabbage 5/5 (good lyrics.)
overall: 8/10 strongly recommended
i have no clue on where to get any of their 7" stuff, so i guess you have to search (their first LP is on EBAY and a CD with all their recordings on it, is on AMAZON).

Bad Religion-EP 7"

some bands don't know when to stop, like bad religion. they have relesased like 20 albums. how could a good band from the 80's hardcore scene later open for bands like blink 182 in the 2000's, awful. back to this record. it's not like most hardcore albums. their not trying to play fast, but mid-tempo. this record is not played with much angry, but it is decent. the a-side is great but the b-side is more lame.
1. bad religion 5/5 (great chorus.)
2. politics 5/5 (fastest song.)
3. sensory overload 5/5 (great song.)
4. slaves 2.5/5 (alright.)
5. drastic actions 0/5 (far to slow and long, no point.)
6. world war III 3/5 (good ender.)
overall: 6.5/10 recommended
after the original 7" release of this, they re-released it as a 12". in 2009 it was reissued on 7" limited to 1,500 but even the reissues go for a lot of the green.

The Teen Idles-Minor Disturbance 7"

it's the last day of the month, time for Dischord's first release. this is a decent record, not one of my favourites thou. lots of bass on this. Nathan's voice is also as irritating as ss decontrol's Springa (but they do grow on you). it's a good thing Ian switched to vocals and formed minor threat with Jeff. Nathan went on to form youth brigade (pretty bad band) and they released only one ep as well, which i will review soon.
1. teen idles 5/5 (best song, fast. too bad the rest of the record doesn't sound this good.)
2. sneakers 1.5/5 (weak song, slow too.)
3. get up and go 2/5 (what is this, the ramones.)
4. deadhead 3.5/5 (decent song, weird sound on the break down.)
5. fleeting fury 4/5 (good, faster.)
6. fiorucci nightmare 5/5 (yes, back to the great stuff.)
7. getting in the way 5/5 (it bleeds with the song above, so it's pretty much the same song, therefore 5/5.)
8. minor disturbance (too young to rock) 1/5 (bad live track.)
overall: 5/10 lightly recommended
better than a lot of hardcore records out there, but not nearly the best. you would have to spend tons to get the original 7", so get the 12".
