The Fans-Givin' Me That Look 7"

now for some killer powerpop. The Fans formed in 1978 in england. apparently they were pretty popular in the UK. i can see why. this is fantastic powerpop. great vocals matched with great fast instruments. the band only released two 7"s which both are great. this 7" was released in 1979 on Fried Egg records. the one i have is the re-issue by 1977 Records. they are a Japanese record label. they have released tons of classic 7"s however they are pretty expensive, for a 7" re-issue. but i got mine for cheaper elsewhere. most 1977 Records records are limited to 300 on black and 100 on some colour. so most of their earlier releases are impossible to find. so you have to buy them when you see them. so yeah, this is a very catchy record, get it.

We Still Can't Help It If We're From Florida Compilation 7"

i really love compilations. you get introduced to some really great bands and wish you could hear more from them. then on the flip side there are really bad bands that you wish you never hear again. this 7" compilation however is actually pretty great all the way through. this was the second installment of the florida compilations and it was made in 1992 on Burrito records. tons were pressed because they said that they always wanted there records to be cheap and easy to buy. i really enjoy their thoughts and because of them you can pick this up for around $2.50. this release comes with a fantastic large insert. check it out in the scans.

now on this 7" there is a mix of old and newer bands, well new for the 90's. this comp starts with an EBS track and i honestly thought it was from the 80s. nope, it's a song off of their 1991 release, crazy. next is a song from No Fraud which is awesome. No Fraud's first 7" from 1986 is great. Slap of Reality were a new band as you can probably tell by the sounds of it. it's not bad actually but doesn't fit in with the other songs at all. then Backwash deliver my favourite track on here. the track is from a 3 song demo they did. it sounds very similar to Sin 34. Maggot Sandwich are next. their first two releases are what made them one of my favourite bands. however these two tracks are pretty bad and don't sound anything like the Maggot Sandwich i know. well a Florida punk comp wouldn't be complete without Roach Motel. the song they supply was an unreleased one given to the label by the guitarist on a cassette. then Chickenhead give a pretty great little track. they released only one 7" in the year of my birth 1993. and lastly an obscure song by Milk and Cookies. i doubt they were even a real band. just listen to the 1 second song.

This Is Funkin' Insane:::::The 4rd Installment

well now everyone hates me. from the response i'm getting now for putting down the download links is really disheartening. well here is something that will cheer me up and make you hate me even more. it's another installment of everyone's favourite, "this is funkin' insane." this time it is the probably well know man, Ray Parker Jr. yes the guy who did the Ghostbusters theme (which is a great song by the way). but before Ghostbusters, Ray had a band called Raydio. they released two great funk 12"s and are the best stuff he did. in 1980 they changed their name to Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio and released this 12" and one other. then he changed the band name again just to Ray Parker Jr. and everything from then on wasn't that good. but back to 1980. they released this album, "two places at the same time" and it was well-received. however you like funk and not soul (like me), this album is mostly garbage. that being said, the first song is a fantastic funk track. it's called "it's time to party now" and the intro to the song is so great. the bass is incredibly catchy matched with great vocals. Ray himself played the bass, guitar, keyboards and sang on this track. really talented man. now have a listen to this great funky song.

you may have noticed that the site has changed. the links have all been cut. that's because all the music i rip will only be available for streaming now. i will no longer have downloads. so now all you have to do is click on the link in the post and it will take you to a page that has all the songs. you can click on each song and listen to whole album like that. there is also an audio player at the bottom of each post that when clicked will play the first song, then each song after. or you can click the "next" bottom to hear the following songs. i know you would probably know how to work it without me telling you all this, but oh well, it's been said. so anyway, some people have ruined it for others. i am just getting sick of seeing the stuff i rip and the crappy pictures i take of the records being used for other people's posts with no link to my site. yes i know i don't own any of this music but i still took a lot of time ripping and scanning these records. if any of my followers comment, i would gladly have downloads up for a week or so, for you guys to download it, then i would make it stream-only. but for now, no downloads.

well after a long absence i'm back. and i'm coming back with one of my favourite vocalists. everybody already knows all about his stories, like his death, so i won't talk about it. i just really love the way he sings. especially on "Gospel". just a fantastic song. anyway this was recorded and released in 1983 on Upstart Records. this was re-issued two years ago by two labels, Mass Media and Puke n Vomit Records. a great mix of long and short songs on this one. now i downloaded a version of this album a long time ago. the recording was very simple with no effects on the vocals or instruments. now when i bought this re-issue i found myself listening to an album with tons of effects on it. like the massive echoes on his voice, which wasn't on the downloaded version. what does the original 1983 release sound like? effects or no effect? oh well, who cares.

well i think it's time for some more funk. seeing that it's my birthday today i thought i'd post something that only i will like on here. and that of course is funk. i was gonna post some punk but my rips turned out to only be in one ear so i'll have to re-up them. anyway, now unlike funk i've posted in the past, these guys are actually new. Funk'n'stein are a fantastic funk band that sings in english but are from Israel. they have been around since 2006 and are still going strong. eight members in total. they have released a 2xcd, and two other separate cds. too bad they didn't release this stuff on vinyl. i'm sure more people would be buying those. but whatever format, the music still kicks. their first cd has about 40 songs with most of them being good. their other cds have great stuff too. so it's hard to narrow it down to a fee tracks, but i have. i have included three great funk tracks and i even threw in a great soul track. so check out the link of their site that i linked above. they even have a bunch of youtube videos, included live stuff and some great outtakes. check out the quick jam session here. i can't wait for their next releases. oh and by the way, the main singer looks like he is straight out of 1974, which is a good thing.

7 Seconds-Old School 12"

from one of my favourite new bands to one of my favourite old bands. 7 Seconds were/are a fantastic band formed in 1980 in Reno. i posted other releases by them which include their 2 first 7"s. everything they did up until 1984 is golden. there is a great LP going around that includes their three early tape releases, which have some great songs on it. the really early stuff is much slower but i've grown to like it, but it's still not close to the fast stuff they do. the last good thing they did was an LP called The Crew. that album is pretty good, but after hearing some of the much rawer versions of the songs in the demo session, i can't really like it as much as i should. everything after that LP is pretty much garbage, with the exception of a few tracks here and there. this 12" posted here was released in 1991 on Headhunter records, but the tracks are from a 1983 demo session. if they had released this in 1983 it would have killed. instead they chose to re-record and these tracks sat for almost ten years. but they did finally get the vinyl release they deserved. these tracks are all fantastic and the production on this is great, really dirty. fantastic vocals by Kevin, one of, if not my favourite vocalists.

one the best recordings of all time, get it from lots of places. i'm sure you are sick of my praising by now.

School Jerks-3rd EP 7"

since i posted the other School Jerks 7"s, i thought i'd post this then too. if you don't know already School Jerks are one of my favourite bands out there and the best out of the great city of Toronto. i'm wearing one of the shirts i got from them right now. just great punk music. this was recorded in 2010 and released this year by Cowabunga records. 100 on clear vinyl, which is the one scanned here, i've also got the black vinyl (i'd like to get this clear black swirl version which there was only like 8 that came out like that, from Nick's store). they are in the works on a 12" which you know is gonna be great after their demo, three 7"s and a split tape they have already released which were all great. nothing will ever beat their first 7" for me, but this 7" is right behind it. Ivan the drummer has a different band called Kremlin which are really quite good as well. you can read more about them and the School Jerks at the site linked here (their blog). nothing else to say, 6 great songs with only one song over a minute long, now listen and buy it.

This Is Funkin' Insane:::::The 2nd Installment

ok everyone on the planet whether you like them or not, knows Earth, Wind & Fire. and if you like funk, you definitely like them. the problem with them is, like most funk bands, they add in a few or lots of soul tracks on their LPs. for some reason people like all the soul stuff. not me. it's way too slow and dull, just awful. so anyway some how this is on Rolling Stones list of the best records of all time. i don't really see that. however, there is a track on here that does go down as one of the best funk tracks of all time, in my mind. this great song is tucked at more of the end of the album, crammed between some not so good tracks. the song is Africano and i think it was a single from this 1975 release, or at least the flip side of a single. originally i skipped this track on first go around. this was because i thought it was some soul song judging by the minute and a half flute intro. then i played it later on and found out that there was more to the song. so here you have it, Africano, with the flute intro cut out. right to the funk!

Strike-Radio Songs/Teenage Rebel EP 7"

well what we have here is a classic punk 7". this Belfast band released this 7" in 1980 by Shock Rock and was sadly their sole release. it was limited to 500 back then. too bad they never did anything else but this cause these two powerpop songs are some of the catchiest ever. the band did recreate once but with a female singer and they didn't go much original material. there is a great write up of the band on the Sing Sing blog. in fact this was re-issued by the label Sing Sing records in 2010. that whole label is just amazing. every release they do is a killer. however, this 7" is one of the few that is out of print from there site. just by looking at this cover you know it's gonna be great. i like the little symbol in the cover that they changed from Shock Rock to Sing Sing seamlessly. so if you haven't heard of this, get it now, it's a must. it's hard to chose which song is better, but i think i like the flip side the best.

Retainers-Teenage Regrets 7"

now for some more of the Retainers. before i praised them with their Waste of Time 7" (which by the way does have one of my favourite tracks of all time on it). and like that 7", this record was released on Fashionable Idiots out of Minnesota. this one being 3 years previous to the other in 2006. the Retainers play really distorted garage punk stuff. this 7" is really distorted opposed to there others, (i feel). this has been pressed twice and i have the second press. they have released a few 7"s and a 12". if anyone knows where to get that 12", let me know, cause it's sold out everywhere i look. the first track is a real good one. the last track has a real surf vibe to me, must be the guitar.

U.X. Vileheads-Catch 22 EP 7"

now for some new punk from Sweden. the band plays some great hardcore punk and just keep getting better and better. the UX Vileheads have released another 7" (which was good too) along with this one. this one was released in 2010 on both Sorry State (USA) and Adult Crash (i think Denmark). they just released a 12" and i've heard a few tracks from it, they sound great. i'll have to buy that new 12" sometime. i just found a great blog about there band that the singer updates. THIS is the link. you can buy stuff from them including some sweet looking shirts.

well yes, after half a year of a dead blog i've decided to finally bring it back to life. i will no longer scan anything but these will still be all my own rips. anyway i'm sure no one is still around here but i'll try to post more to get a little crowd following again. well, it's time to start up again. so to begin where i left off i will have a little segment here called This Is Funkin' Insane (named from the amazing band Ozone's second song on their first album). this will be for funk albums that only have a few great tracks. this is basically for me since no one likes funk around here, but i'm still gonna do it. the first band on the block is War, although when i first bought this i thought the band's name was galaxy by the looks of the cover. it is a great cover by the way. yes the same band that did the song, Why Can't We Be Friends, but 2 years previous to this release. i believe they started in 1970 and they for sure got funky as time went on. the album here is called Galaxy and it was released in 1977. there is a total of 5 songs on here. 3 of the are garbage, 1 is fantastic, and 1 is pretty good. the pretty good track is the last one on the album called, The Seven Tin Soldiers, but i didn't rip it because it's 15 minutes long. the fantastic track is the one i uploaded and its the title track. it is very funky complete with bongos, a piano, smoking horns and great vocals. so now i'll take you to my place in space.

Bored Teenagers Volume 3 Compilation 12"

yes the long over due compilation post. well sorry it took me so long but i finally got this up for you luka. well, here it is now. the bored teenagers comps include only british punk from 77-82 and are the best comps i have ever heard in my life. almost all the tracks on every comp are great. all the comps were released by Bin Liner records and are still pumping them out as we speak. they are up to five now. all are out of print and limited to 500. well i think you can still get the newest one. head over to the Bored Teenagers site and you will get tons and tons of info on all the bands on these comps, including pictures. now listen to these fantastic tracks. most tracks are from demo tapes or 7"s. oh and all these comps include nice thick bootlegs too. greatly assembled with care.

Black Belt Jones

well i'm sitting in the basement because it's hotter then hell upstairs. it's just a lazy dog-dangling afternoon so there is nothing else to do. so, time for some funk to give this blog a little life. this time it comes from the Blaxploitation film entitled Black Belt Jones from 1974. the intro to this movie is the greatest opening to any movie i have ever seen. this is mainly due to the incredibly funky track by Dennis Coffey. but the "great" fight scene adds to it as well. the Black Belt Jones soundtrack (mainly the 7") is noted as the holy grail of the blaxpolitation soundtracks, and i can see why. the main theme is one of my favourite tracks of all time. the rest of the film has some great tracks as well. the film was named 38 on the list of the documentary called The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made. i found that quite surprising. and then i looked into that documentary. well the documentary itself is a piece of trash. apparently the movies only go up until 1986 when the documentary was made well, well after that, in 2004. that documentary is terrible so don't fear. still, many don't like Black Belt Jones, but i do. the movie was officially released on VHS way back when but not on DVD. there is some Japanese bootleg though. a new dvd was released last year called Urban Action Collections which includes Black Belt Jones, Black Samson and two other movies, i still need to buy it. so i have included a great sounding rip of the main theme below. as well as the intro itself in video format. just enlarge the video to full-screen and change the quality to 480p for maximum funkyness.

Peach Kelli Pop-S/T 12"

people flipping through my records would have no idea what music i listen to if they just look at the cover of the records. this LP stands out the most of any of my LPs. the picture doesn't really show how pink this thing is. blinding pink. look at the cover, Peach on the beach. but i really like the photo on the back the best. check it out in the scans. well what we have here is an extremely (sometimes power) pop record. all the songs were written by her. she is the drummer for the amazing band White Wires as well. check out the great insert for more info. this was released on Going Gaga records out of Ottawa. this was limited to 500 and released in 2010. it is sold out from the label but i got my copy from Allie not too long ago. she is saving the remaining copies for their tour. a second press is coming soon. on this album, every song stays in your head. really catchy. i think every song was recorded somewhere else too. get this!

Stolen Hearts-Heart Collector 7"

let's lighten the mood around here with some absolutely killer powerpop. one of my favourite powerpop 7"s of all time. it's that great. Stolen Hearts are a mix of males and females and they released this in 2009 on, what else, Douchmaster records. limited to, i have no idea. i think they are from Atlanta. really catchy powerpop with female vocals. i got this in a trade with Grave Mistake. i first heard these guys from the Douchmaster blog. they have an mp3 of a song off all their released records. i can't say anything else. this is great! please someone tune me in on when they are gonna release something else.

The Zips-EP 7"

well i'm still undecided on if i'll stop this blog or not. for now i present you with a classic 7". i first heard these guys on the Bored Teenagers comp #2 and found out that Sing Sing had re-issued their 7". so i bought it up in TO. their are four songs in total and they are all great! the original 7" was released by Black Gold records in 1978 i believe. limited to 500. not sure what the re-issue was limited to, but it is sold-out from the label. the music is great KBD style punk. really catchy stuff. great vocals. they have released another 7" but i haven't heard it yet. as you can probably tell from the vocals, they are from the UK. enjoy!

time for 7" comp. i believe this is from 2009 or maybe it's from 2010. i don't know. there is no info in this. only the Criminal IQ website, that's the label it was released on. there is only a one-sided page for the sleeve. and a small insert. the song titles are on front. just look at the scans. anyway about the music. i bought this because it had White Load on it. never-mind, i won't go into all the bands, just listen and find out what this sounds like.

2. Sick Jump!-fuck kids 4/5 (for someone who likes harsh vocals. nice track.)

ok i'm back. sorry, i've been busy with a lot of stuff lately. anyway, here's the post. here is a classic 7" by Authorities. no this isn't an original copy released in 1982, but a re-issue by Get Hip Recording in 2010. this is different from the original because they added two songs to it. luckily the tracks are at the end of each side, unlike in between songs like on the Freeze 7" re-issue. the two added songs really aren't even in the same vein as the others. they are mostly slow. anyway the other tracks are killers. you probably already have this, but still.

1. achtung! 5/5 (great opener.)

2. i hate cops 5/5 (piggers.)

3. between the thighs 3.5/5 (when this song gets going, it's fantastic! but the 1 minute and 30 second slow opening part sucks. the opener could have been good if it was shorter.)

5. shot in the head 5/5 (slower tempo, but great.)

6. LSD 0/5 (is the 3 minutes of slow garbage over yet? bad.)

yes, Mean Jeans are great. apparently they play ramones-style punk, but i really don't see it. these guys are just always having a great time. as shown in most of there lyrics. as well as some videos they have made. that's what i love about this band. love love love love love it. it was limited to 500. on slime green vinyl and my copy even comes with a sticker. here we go, an already rare record. released in 2008 on Rehab records out of Seattle and impossible to find. and when you do find them, they go for over $50. luckily i got mine from a guy for half of that, great guy. anyway, they have released a couple other 7"s and a 12", all great. so everybody download this and make them your new favourite band.

RAMONES SUCK!! but anyway. i always start a post with "time for some," and i've got nothing better to say so, time for some new hardcore punk/surf. this was released in april of this year, so i just received it in the mail. the great thing about this record is the presentation. all 500 records were hand made, hand cut and hand stamped. that's why the title is a little faded. lyrics and stuff at bottom. i bought this for only $4.50 at Grave Mistake records. get the download then go over there and buy it. it's all gold, too me. definitely the best 7" of the year so far. notice the similar sound of The Gift Givers song and the circle jerk's song World Up My Ass. i love the second track Thrilling Murder. the lyrics are about how the human-race is useless and they should all be killed. great stuff.

well before i get back to punk, here is a nice little Beatles style 7". almost powerpop. i have no info on this band except that they are from Indiana and you can contact them here. i just bought this because it was cheap and i liked the cover. this was released in 2009 on Spin The Bottle records. i'm not sure what's going on with that label these days. i really have nothing else to say. this is a great record. love the vocals.

no this isn't a real post but i can tell you where to get it. i don't have this only because it's on a cd. otherwise i would snap at a vinyl version. anyway, i posted their half-great (including one of my favourite songs of all time "tryin to mess with me") 7" a while ago. i thought the tracks after '79 would be crap, but i was way wrong. all the tracks are really great. there are a couple of tracks near the middle of this cd where they kind of sound metal-ish, but then they start playing this tangy cow-punk type stuff. so yeah this is great. get it at the good blog named, Disorder-Are You Experienced? if you're into buying cds, buy the cd at this site: The Absentees. you know what, it's only $10 postpaid. i might just buy it too. here is a track to listen to:

time for some more female fronted punk. this dates way back to 1982. recorded in one take at Marco Polo Sound. released originally on Electro Static records, but the one you see here is the re-issue by Noise and Distortion records from 2010. a very good re-issue if you ask me. a little pricey though. anyway about the music. hardcore punk as you would come to guess from '82. now Bibi's voice can get a little annoying but there is only 4 tracks so it's not too bad. they released three 7"s in their lifetime. i originally got a download of this from KBD and he didn't include the last song because he didn't like it. well i actually do like it. that was basically my reasoning for uploading this. well i'm off to tend to my flooded basement.

yes i haven't been around lately but i'll be posting up some more records more regularly again. starting with a record that doesn't really get any credit. released on one of my favourite record labels, (headman by Nickolai of The Imposters) Secret records in 2008. great mostly fast paced newer skate punk. the thing i like about the insert for this record is that it says (back in 2008) that there is a new 7" release by boogie nazis coming out. that 7" never happened. it reminds me of reading through touch and go zines saying that a bored youth 7" would be coming out, that never happened either. anyway, the neckties are gonna release some new stuff sometime this year, so look out for that. just download and enjoy!

Bad Influence-War's No Fun Demo 7"

alright here is some great hardcore punk. i've got a massive headache but i want to get this up for Dave G. and i'll tell you why. we both got the pre-orders from No Way and this 7". they ran out of this 7" and i wasn't gonna get a copy. i asked Dave if he got the same news, but he was in fact getting a copy. then he said i could have his copy. so long story short, thank you so much Dave! can't thank you enough. anyway, this is some great punk. these guys started from the S.F. Bay Area. this was recorded in 1983 and finally released by Who Cares? records in 2010. 250 pressed and 50 on a different sleeve. i've got number #230. back in the day, Bad Influence sent there demo to Tim Yohanon from MRR, and he booked them to play their first show with Minor Threat. pretty cool. so on this demo, the vocalist wrote all the lyrics and the guitarist wrote all the music. i love the vocals on this. great drum sound too. short songs with lyrics included in the scans so you can all sing along.

time for me to post my own KBD classic. thanks to those who guessed. i really think this is absolute gold KBD punk. ever since i got the Back To Front Vol.3 comp from Mat, i've been playing "ono" nonstop. i tried looking for it forever but with no result. never on ebay or anything. finally, in December of last year, CollectorScum was having a set sale on the Terminal Boredom forum (which right now i am banned from). so i skimmed the list and found this. i was amazed. on closer inspection, i found out that it was a copy with original vinyl and no sleeve. but he said that he would supply a xerox of his original sleeve. so yeah, i got it for cheap and it's basically the exact same as the original. this originally being released in 1979 on Disaster records. super catchy punk. so i'll keep this short and let the music do the talking. get this now.

The Freeze-Police 7"

the Freeze have been a topic of discussion around these parts for a week or so now. that is the Freeze in the 90's. everybody knows the Freeze right? well they are one of my favourite bands and just posted a fantastic live LP not to long ago. a little (of my) history on this. i saw this at a record store and it was only $5. for whatever reason, i did not purchase it. so when i got home, just for fun, i went online to see what it sounded like. at the time, Dave G. posted it over at his blog. i downloaded it and was surprised how great it was. now of course i'm near no record stores. then i figured out that these two songs were on an LP called "misery loves company." so i searched for that LP online for a while. finally someone posted it and i downloaded it. yes some songs on it are great, but mostly i was disappointed. that ended my downloading of later Freeze stuff. recently though i listened to some newer Freeze stuff, in my opinion, it's not good. sad cause the first 7 years of the Freeze we great times. their records from then are so great. anyway you might be wondering how i finally got this. well sometime later i got to another record store and found it for cheap, this time buying it. i had to put down a Brutal Knights 7" in it's place though. well it was worth it anyway. this was released in 1991 on Taang records. that's all.

1. bloodlights 4/5 (a little weird sound mishaps on this but it's not bad.)

2. talking bombs 4/5 (my favourite of the two.)

well i'm doing it, i'm starting a tape label. i'm gonna be releasing tapes only. why, you may ask? well because tapes are a bazillion times cheaper then vinyl, and i don't have much money. the label is called Foreign Fish. i am in talks with The Imposters and Negative Lifestyle about upcoming releases. no dates are set or anything, but it is a high possibility that it will happen. if any bands want in on this small label. get in touch here. oh and if you're wondering what the picture of the map is doing here, well the red parts indicate great masses of foreign fish.

Poppees-Jealousy/She's Got It 7"

here's one for all you fellow early Beatles lovers. this is basically The Beatles but with the Poppees own twist on things. released on the ever great BOMP! records in 1978. i'm not sure where these guys were from but i think it was New York. they weren't around for long but they released two 7"s. this is the second one. the first one has the amazing song "if she cries." i wish i had that 7", but in due time, i will get my hands on it. anyway, on this 7" there are two great songs. there is a demo version of "jealousy" which is just as great, but in a different way. don't you love the way the BOMP! labels on the records look. well i certainly do. nothing really else to say except that i wanted to post this cause it is so great. well that really didn't need to be said but whatever.

1. jealousy 5/5 (so great that even my dad loves it!)

2. she's got it 5/5 (great too. listen closely at the end, very end he yells, "whoo!" i love it.)

overall: 10/10 strongly recommended

you can still buy this from BOMP! for only $5. that's right, only $5! BOMP! also released a LP/CD of the Poppees called "pop goes the anthology" which has both singles, demo tracks (like the one mentioned above) and live tracks. it is well worth the money too. while you're at it, check out the Boyfriends, 20/20 and Jim Basnight releases that BOMP! did as well. they are pure greatness.

(((this is one of my favourite records cause it was one of the first punk records i got on vinyl. now i find myself looking at it more than listening to it. not cause i don't like it anymore, but because i have tons of other records. although i always keep it at the front of my stash of records. i remember always playing tony hawks pro skater with my brother and we would try to guess what he was saying in the chorus. cause they cut it all out in the game, cause of censors. also they substituted the word "drugs" with "skate." which sounds pretty funny when you find out what the original sounds like. anyway the vinyl itself has seen it's play. the wear is really only noticeable on the last track though. it's a great looking record with just the right amount of wear. check out the scans. elliott called for a re-post, so here it is.)))

hey, i just bought this, 30 bones altogether. it was worth it. one of the greatest albums out there. they put out another two good albums, they got some cool surf songs. after that record they gave up. they went from skate-punk to slow-bad. but from 80-84 they were great.

Boogie Nazis-Pearl Harbor Sessions Tape

as promised, here is the tape tracks that were missing from the discography i posted a couple days ago. well more problems with my tape deck. now it clicks like a mad man when i play something. i think i might just suck it up and buy something new instead of looking around for old used stuff. but i did finally get a rip without the clicks but i listened to the cd versions and came to the conclusion. the cd versions are just more clearer so i went with those. thanks to Ryan again for uploading them. but i did scan everything. anyway here you have it. a tape entitled Pearl Harbor Sessions. i think it was released in 2010 but i'm not sure cause there is no date. apparently i got the last tape they had, thank god. greatly packaged. the tape is spray-painted with one side being black and the other being the "rising sun." you know, that Japanese thing or whatever. on the paper you get an official pilots license. mine is #51. i signed my name on it but at the time of scanning this, which was a long time ago, i hadn't signed it yet. so check out the scans below. now get the finest surf music ever to grace tape reels.

this has got to be one of the poorest productions ever. the sound quality is really bad, but great. a-side---good, b-side---bad. they are a good band and released some great stuff.

hey, time for some top class funk. i would post the whole record, that is if someone were to request it. but no one probably will so i'll just post up the best track. that being the first and title track entitled Walk On. fantastic funk. i was flipping through the nearest record store and found this. their afros and track titles made it stand out. for example, "This Is Funking Insane." come on, from that it's got to be great. and it is too. it was released in 1980, so it will fit in with lots of stuff posted here. i got a promo copy. identical to the regular press except for the stamp in the bottom corner. well i think i've said enough about a record that probably no one will care about on here. but i love it, so it goes here. nonstop rotation in these parts. funk on!

The Freeze-Live At Cape Cod 1980 12"

i can't remember the last time i posted a live album, if i even posted one at all. anyway here is one. it's snowing like a mad man out there and i've been shoveling all day. what does that have to do with this post, nothing. why am i telling you this, no idea. so i'll just jump into the post. The Freeze were a great band and everyone must know them. they released some other great stuff up until 87'. this record was released just after their first 7" and it is referred to by Clif in this Cape Cod set. this was recorded in 1980 onto a tape. from that tape, Schizophrenic records out of Hamilton released it on LP. so the quality isn't the best and the sound fades in an out but only a couple of times. the quality i think is very good from being from an old tape. so much drive on these recordings. screeching vocals which i love. great set. this is my personal favourite Freeze stuff. get it now. nothing else to say.

here it is, the greatest collection of surf music you'll ever hear. well that's what i think anyway. this band from Arizona has been kicking around since 2007. Ryan from BN first came by my site way back when i posted that first BN post. that was when i first heard them, through The Imposters. now Ryan drops by now and again (which i think is pretty cool). anyway, he is sending me this CD but for now you can get the tracks from cllct.com (which Ryan uploaded them to). so these tracks aren't from my own rippings or anything. there are tons of great songs here. some different version of some songs too. if you're wondering why some of the tracks don't have links. that is because i have the tape that those songs are on, which i would like to post sometime. but you still can download from the link at the very bottom, so. alright here we go, so many tracks.

Brain F≠-So Dim 7"

ok i know i said i would do a Boogie Nazis post and i might still do that toady but for now here is something else. it's been busy right now for me so that's why i've been lacking on the posts. this is not a complete post but still great. Alex at Grave Mistake Records left a comment here wondering if i wanted this 7". so he sent me a couple free records, which i am ever greatly for. the occasion was the release of this 7". i think it officially can out a few days ago. i am a big Brain F≠ fan. they used to be called Brain Flannel but i don't what happened, i guess they just made it shorter, i don't know. anyway, the tape they released some time ago blew me away. the combined vocals and great hooks caught my eye. i'll talk more about that tape when i eventually post it. so back to this, it's got two great songs on it. one being my favourite BF track from their tape "symptom set." i have included a download of this 7"s version (it's different from the tape version). as a help towards the label i will not post the other song. you will need to buy it hear "so dim." come on, you know you need to get every Grave Mistake record anyway. 100 on red vinyl.

so what's in the news today. well the label ScotchTapes out of ontario has a singles club. which i signed up for. ever 4 weeks i will get a new tape. one of the tapes includes The White Wires. i can't wait for that one. he made up some shirts for his label and he messed up on one. he said it wasn't good enough to sell. so i snagged it for free. thanks Al. now onto the short post.

possibly my two favourite tracks of 2009. such a great band. this was released on Fashionable Idiots. Retainers have released some great 7"s and a 12". "waste of time" is from the 12" but put on a 7" first. i have not heard the 12" so if anyone can give me a link to where i can buy it, that would be great. i will get back to old punk in the new post. right now i thought i'd just post a quick one here. it is really great little gem.

here's one for elliott's return. we were talking before on what was the most poppiest records we had. well this tops the charts for me. this might not be for the usual followers of this blog. maybe Frank would like it. i will get back to punk in my next post. anyway, i really love this record. released in 2008 on Douchemaster records. apparently they were from seattle, then moved to atlanta, then onto NY. they have released two 7"s and a 10"s as well, i think. no it's not just the three girls on the cover. it's actually those three and a guy on the drums, but i don't think the drummer is ever constantly the same guy. really catchy rhythms with great female vocals. i picked this up for $5 with a ton of other Douchemaster records off some guy. thank you who ever you were.

here you have it, the greatest release of 2010 (posted on the first day of 2011). The White Wires are from Ottawa. they have released some 7"s and a 12" on Going Gaga records. it was limited to 300 and now goes for big money. it was however re-issued on Douchemaster records, but even they have sold out of it. other distros still have it though for cheap. anyway, this is great all the way through. it's so catchy. a lot more drive then on their first LP. great gritty production on this one. this was released on Dirtnap records. 800 on black vinyl and 200 on white vinyl. i ordered the black vinyl because i like it better then coloured vinyl, but they sent me the white anyway. oh well. they are sold out of the white edition, and in quite a short time. no, i wasn't lazy and just used the download card's download. this is ripped straight from the vinyl. nothing else to say, this is essential.

ok let me just say that 2010 had a lot of great releases and they all can't be mentioned here. i know i'm probably missing something, but this is just some of the best 2010 releases off the top of my head.

ok, so first up is the great BRAIN FLANNEL with the best tape release of the year. it was put out by Statuestorytapes. great female/male vocals. their song "Symptom Set" is just amazing! i will post this sometime soon. buy it if you find it. only 100 made and sold out fast.

next is another female fronted band, THE THROWAWAYS. they released a split 7" this year, which i posted. the Spastic Panthers side isn't very good, but the flip side is great punk. just check out the post i did and you'll see what i mean.

now for some great 2010 powerpop. this powerpop is supplied by CRUSADERS OF LOVE. their lp by the name of Never Grow Up has some really catchy tunes. the first 5 songs are golden. it came out on Douchemaster records. buy it.

now for some hardcore punk. NEGATIVE LIFESTYLE released a 7" which i waited forever for. and it was well worth the wait. great all the way through. i posted it so look back at the old posts.

another important release of 2010 was a 7" by the great NIGHT BIRDS. surf/punk and it's pure gold. i posted it too, so check that out. i also posted their new tape release, but i like their first 7" better.

ok you might be thinking who the hell is in that photo above. well it's LADIES. and they released one hell of a 7" on Grave Mistake. short songs, great vocals. i will be posting it soon as well. it must be posted.

well i hope everyone out there had a good Christmas. i did. i got an external sound card so that i can use my laptop to rip records. instead of having to haul out the desktop computer and take a half hour to just set it up. anyway, here's a gift from me to you. it's the new single from The Busy Signals. well it was new in 2006. the circle on the cover is actually a sticker. this was released on Shit Sandwich records. here is some great KBD style punk from one of the best current bands doing it. they released another 7" and also a great 12" on Dirtnap. two great songs are here. the flipside being the better track. great female fronted vocals. i am a sucker for the female punk vocals, you might like this too Dave G. i'll keep this short cause i have to go listen to my new Rip-Off Compilation that i got from my brother. see you.

(((so here is a post for you Ryan. i can't believe it's already Christmas time again. this time last year me and elliott were duking back and forth with posts. now, not so much. oh well. anyway, the mighty J.F.A. this isn't as well regarded as their previous releases but it is a really great record. my copy is really worn. just look at the cover. in the scans you will see a picture of a gauge in the vinyl. it occurs at 1:16 of "tentpeg." it skips on all my turntables except the one i ripped it with. you will hear a loud pop but that's it. lots of crackles on this. it adds to the music quite nicely. now grab a listen and enjoy the holidays. it will sound like you're sitting in front of a crackling fire. and now for the original post.)))

today i got my first "follower". i don't know who you are but if you're reading this, leave a comment and then i'll know it wasn't just a mistake. anyway, yet another post of JFA, as you can tell, they're one of my favourite bands. alright i expected the worst when i downloaded this. i love their first two records. but then i downloaded their 88' release, Nowhere Blossoms, it's horrible. not one bit of punk or even surf. after a couple months i decided to download this album. i thought it was going to be crap too, but boy was i wrong. i was pleasantly surprised. this record sounds pretty good, ranging from surf to punk to thrash to the 80's pop sound. released in 84' on what else but Placebo records. don't expect it to be anything like their first two albums, but still worth listening to. nice cover too. tracks, look down.

1. deltitnu 5/5 (just in case you didn't know, this is "untitled" backwards. the music and title.)

2. tentpeg 3/5 (good. almost skips.)

3. ABA 5/5 (nice song, instrumental, nice fast surf style.)

7. i love broads 5/5 (nice speed and vocals.)

9. pipetruck 5/5 (nice surf song. agent orange did a version of this too, the JFA one is faster therefore better. bass is great.)

10. zimbobway 5/5 (my personal favourite. nice surf/minutemen style song.)

if your an early JFA lover (like me) just beware, this is not straight punk but still great. it's not a main collectors item it's not too pricey. by the way, elliott where are you?

Night Birds-Midnight Movies Tape

here is something from November 2010 that is already out of print. it's the new Night Birds cassette. this was going to be a 7" on No Way records but the vinyl wasn't ready for their tour so they made a tape of it. they put some on their merch site and it was all bought up pretty quickly. luckily i was fast enough to get one. this is still going to be released in 7" format, but not until the new year, i believe. i'm not sure how many were pressed but they came in a great case, one that doesn't crack so easily like those other plastic ones. i finally got a good rip of a tape, well i think it sounds pretty good. i'll be posting another great tape in the future. anyway back to this. fast punk surf with great vocals. not as classic as their first 7" but still very good. "bad biology" should have been the first track. that's just what i feel. on the cover "night birds" is coloured in with a highlighter, but it doesn't show up on the scanner (just like the fluorescent spray-painted Chronic Disorder 7"). i took a picture of the cover with my camera so you can see the highlighted cover in the "scans."

1. midnight movies 5/5 (chorus really reminds me of "Denim Demon".)

2. no way home 5/5 (nice.)

3. bad biology 5/5 (great great great song!)

night birds are just a great band all around. get this when it comes out in 7" format on No Way. they are finishing up recordings for an LP. i can't tell you how much i'm psyched about that. in June they are coming up to Canada, can't wait for that too! oh and on a side note, i have heard the elliott is back. i hope he gets a post up soon.

The Sack-O'-Woes/(Do The) Soggy Pie 7"

another month gone by, another month older is this blog. here is the first post of December. i guarantee that you won't find this on any other blog (for now). it is the first release by The Sack-O'-Woes on S(t)ack-o'-Records all the way back in 2002. sometime ago i looked into buying some SOW records, in US or Canada. but after a while of not seeing any available, i contacted the band. who did i get? Niels himself (guy from Gepopel). i asked him what records he had for sale, and he said, all but a 10" that they released. i thought for sure that he wouldn't have any of this 7" left because it was limited to 200 and released 8 years ago. but he did so i bought this and everything else. then i got an email saying that i was getting the Whiteout 7" with a "cheapo giveaway sleeve" (not silk-screened). in return, he found a copy of the 10" album and added it for free. so i now have the entire SOW discography, with one their best 7"s, Baby, I'm Born Old (reviewed on here a long time ago) signed by all the band! thank you Niels! now for the music, it's great catchy garage punk. the b-side where it's at! get it now! recorded in fake stereo.

White Flag-Within You Without You 7"

well it was my birthday on the 17th so i've been a bit busy. well i'm here now. anyway it's time to unleash another Lost and Found records gem. this time it's White Flag. when i first heard the band name, i thought they were just a bad Black Flag ripoff. but on closer inspection i was quite wrong. this band is really good, and not like Black Flag at all. they started in 81' i think. even up to 86' these guys were releasing great stuff. this was recorded in 86'. the a-side being in the studio and then the b-side being live tracks. if anybody has their album "r is for rocket" please share it with me. i really want to hear it. this record comes on clear vinyl and was released in 1990. i really like the vocals. really catchy music too. grab it!

Sinks-Beat Out My Brains 7"

well Dave G. at the great Rocket Science just posted another classic out of his collection, so i thought i'd do the same. yes this is only 2 years old, but it is a classic. great garage punk from 2008. the Sinks have released other 7"s which are great too, but not as much as this. this was released on the dynamite label, Fashionable Idiots. i just bought about 9 records from their distro. anyway, this was pressed twice. first with 3 different covers limited to 600. then second limited to 100. i like the cover variant with them eating pizza on the street with Little Caesar a lot more then i one i have. the one i have is pretty hard to read (because of the font). but the worst thing is that the record sleeve is filthy. the black ink smears, that's why you'll see smudges on my copy. also that's why i left it in the plastic sleeve to scan it. but it doesn't take away from the sound. great vocals, great riffs, great everything. catchy as hell. enjoy!

The Now-Into The 80's! - The 1978 Demos 12"

finally a night where i don't have tons of homework. so what does that mean for you. it means a post! here you go. i have to say that this must be rare because i can't find any info about it anywhere. i just was looking through the bins at Hits and Misses (they just moved right next to Rotate This!) and stumbled across this. i loved their 7", so i snagged this. when i put it on, oh it was good. this gets better every time i listen to it. this is GREAT! download the scans so you can see the only info that this album gives you. it has the track listing, pressing number and discography. this was released by Boot records in 2005. limited out of 461. mine is #442. i know it doesn't look like it but the cover is white. my poor camera quality, sorry but who's gonna complain. the front has a newspaper article from 77', well you can read it. the back is plain white. the record labels seem to be a bit handwritten. now about the music. the singer's voice is great, the drums are sloppy and great. now the quality is pretty good for demo tapes. the last three songs were recorded somewhere else so that's why that sound different. the songs are a bit lengthy but you don't even notice it. they fly by. yes, 5 minutes and 53 seconds flies by! now get it! enjoy!

The Shitlickers-Cracked Cop Skulls EP 7"

is it The Shitlickers or The Shit Lickers? well...... i went with the first one. anyway this post goes along with the anti-cimex one i just did. as i said before, this was bootlegged onto a 7" with the a-side being this entire ep and the b-side having the entire anti-cimex anarkist attack 7". that's why you'll only see one side of the vinyl in the scans. more raging swedish punk for you. originally released on Malign Massacre in 1982. now i'm not sure on the pressing info but i'll give it a shot. if anybody can help me on facts, do so. it was originally released with the cover linked here. i don't like it very much. then The Export records repressed this and it came with the cover above. and the final press is the same cover as above only in red, not white. now i know that's probably wrong so help me out. seeing as i will never own the anti-cimex original 7", i bought this bootleg. cheap alternative. all the songs are under a minute, beautiful.

time for a new LINKS post. alright, here's some stuff i'm really looking forward to buying or already bought or whatever. first off, thanks elliott for the package, hope your internet gets fixed soon. anyway on to the releases. LIBYANS just released a 12" on Sorry State records. sounds pretty good. once i get some money i'm gonna buy it. also the new LOVE TRIANGLE 7" that they've distributed. that's it for them. then we have Grave Mistake records new release by the LADIES, six more reason to hate the... 7" go to their site and get it, it is truly awesome (comes on pink vinyl too!). next i got wind of a new NIGHT BIRDS 7". which i thought would be on grave mistake (because of previous release) but nope. it's coming out on the great Now Way records. speaking of no way records, they have released some killer stuff lately. the re-issues of the two CHRONIC SICK records and the new ACID REFLUX 7". some great releases coming up on the label too. like i said before, the new night birds 7". also the debut 7" by CROSS RAGE (canadian). speaking of canada, WHITE WIRES have a new 12" coming up on Dirtnap records. if you like powerpop, you'll love them. dirtnap are also re-issuing the cherry beach 7" by CAREER SUICIDE with extra tracks. more canadian stuff is the new 12" by BRUTAL KNIGHTS on Dereanged records. it says it's their last release, god i hope it's not. the new Killed By Modern Problems (vol. 2) is in the works over at H.R.S. records. EPIDEMICS released a 7" on tons of labels, i think mine is Yellow Dog records. lastly back in the re-issue department, we have the great NUKKETEATTERI 7" being re-issued by Adult Crash records in about two weeks. oh i almost forgot, LOGNHALlSMOTTAGNINGEN has a 7" included in a box set with other bands. but that won't be out for a long while. one last thing to say, NEGATIVE LIFESTYLE, you need to make a 12". your 7" is the best of the year so far! lots of links here, check em all out! that's all i got for now. if anybody has any suggestions, let me know!

here's a nice swedish hardcore release for you. this record is great but all of their following records are bad. after this record they went totally CRUST. but anyway. bullshit recordz released this 7" in 1981. this record was the first release by bullshit recordz, the second was the absurd-ep and then the label went bankrupt (rumored to be not true). this is very rare. some parts fast, some parts slow, it's all good.

now we'll go from really good to really bad. at first you might think, "cool a dc band. produced by don at inner ear! this is gonna be great! like minor threat!" then you put it on and realize it doesn't sound like minor threat at all. too bad. anyway this was released on the great bootleg german label Lost and Found records. i'm not sure what this is called but it says "insanity/kyo ki" on the record label. some of you out there will probably like this. that's why i'm posting it, for the public. i haven't seen it anywhere else so here you go. comes on a nice blue vinyl. unknown pressed. have at it! (it's all garbage for me, except for the last song which i like. actually good vocals on that track).

Brutal Knights-Life Ain't Cool 7"

i just heard No Way Fest 4 is cancelled, that sucks. anyway on with life. well in honour of canadian thanksgiving, here you have one of canada's best bands. most people like this band for the humorous lyrics. while that is an attractive element, i just think all their songs are really catchy. they have released some great records, with this being my favourite. this band has great production on all of their records. great vocalist. just another great band from Toronto. this was released on the great Riff Raff records, #2 (school jerks first 7" is #5). i love how the riff raff labels on records look. look at the scans. 2007 the year was. first press on black vinyl, found here, and second press on green vinyl. they just released some new record not to long ago.

Reagan Youth-Youth Anthems For The New Order 12"

ok i've got a double post for you today. so you hear about everybody loving the original 12" opposed to "volume one" 12" put out by Red Archives records. everybody hates how the re-issue sounds. well i guess one guy thought, "hey, what if i put both on a 12"?" well he did and here you have it. the a-side is the original and the b-side is volume one. i actually like volume one quite a bit. i like that you can hear the bass better. also they added the fantastic "no class" song. probably my favourite reagan youth song. anyway, this bootleg looks exactly like the original. even the record labels. it doesn't tell you that there are 10 other songs on the b-side. i have no idea who even made this bootleg but the outer plastic sleeve said 10o0 pressed. released when? i don't know. all i know is that you need this record (or records). there is also a cd of rare and live tracks which is pretty good as well. download the scans for all of the massive foldover sleeve. ok so now the tracks. first download is the original and seconds is volume one. enjoy the(se) masterpiece(s)!

YDI-A Place In The Sun 7"

well the past couple of days i've felt like garbage. what better to do then post. so here is the bootleg of the YDI 7". remember them from American Hardcore. that short clip of the singer whipping his elbows up and down. this is the Reagan Era boot. Reagan Era has the worst quality bootlegs. they don't even try to make them look good. the photos are pixelated and stretched. the insert is cut off so that they could print it on normal size paper. at least it's better then paying $300. so i can't complain, i guess. anyway, back to the record itself. originally released on Blood Bubble records in 1983. i like the fast straight forward tracks but not so much the slower ones. his voice gets a little to harsh on the slow tracks. short songs. nothing left to say. get it.

The Queers-A Proud Tradition 7" 1982 & 1984 EPs

ok hard to believe this but it's my first music post of september. and for that i am sorry but hopefully this will make up for it. two great old 7"s put together in one package. but still two 7"s, not all together on some 12". this is original format. i reviewed the first queers 7" some time ago so visit that post for more useful info. these two records were originally released in 1982 and 1984 on Doheny records. 200 pressed of each and no picture sleeves. the first record had hand written sleeves, not sure on the second record though. well the package i'm presenting here is the re-issue. it was released in 1992 on Selfless records. includes discography insert, well of discog at the time. so the first record is pretty good, but it's all about the second one. their 1984 7" is one of my favourite records ever released, really! it's so catchy. great songs, great everything. great production. great backing vocals. these aren't the fastest records in the world, but it works so well at this tempo. just fantastic. enough yapping, get this now and blow your mind!

1982 EP:

1. we'd have a riot doing heroin 5/5 (all first three songs are linked together by "one two three four.")

2. terminal rut 5/5 (bass.)

3. fagtown 5/5 (vocals nice.)

4. i want it now 5/5 (short.)

5. trash this place 2/5 (weird, not my favourite.)

One Year Old!

well it's been a year since i started my blog. lots of things have happened. lots of records posted. met lots of great people. i started with the intention to just post reviews, and i did for several months. but after the first month i remember i completely forgot about the blog until my brother made a comment about it. then i went back at it. then sometime i quit, or felt like quitting, then i got some inspiration from some comments. then i started to add downloads ripped from my own vinyl. i made another blog for scans, then deleted it, and added the scans in downloads. the weirdest thing is that i started this blog 2 days before school started up. now one year later it's 1 day from the start of school. it's gonna suck to go back but whatever. so anyway, thanks to all who have made me go for a whole year.

alright here's the infamous ss decontrol album. first off, i have ripped all the songs from my own bootleg copy. if the band members want me to take down the links i will, and that goes for any downloads i have, or will have. ok, i just had to say that because of the comments on GBM. time for the review. this was a split release with x-claim and dischord limited to only 1000 copies. there was a bootleg, i don't know what year, but it had ex-claim and discord instead of the correct spelling. only 600 copies of that are out there (that's the one i have). this is a great release and i don't know why a reissue has not be issued, and it probably won't. i don't really like any other albums by them because they're just mainly hard rock and his voice. save the link on the song titles for the download.

The Throwaways/Spastic Panthers Split 7"

first off i'd like to say i've got 285 comments. i was surprised. also looking back at some downland, and the download counts are pretty high (for what i think). thanks to all who comment. you know who you are. i also have 3 followers now. keep downloading and commenting! anyway that's done. so by looking at the two covers you may think why the hell did they do a split. well i have no idea. a powerpop (yes it is) band and a brutal hardcore band. well they did it. both bands from alberta, canada and released on Handsome Dan records on april 21th of this year. my favourite is the Throwaways side. two females and a male on drums. then you have Spastic Panthers who i'm not too into. i don't know what it is but i just can't get into them. maybe you'll like em, who knows? the Throwaways side is heavy stereo. i much prefer mono. i do. well now the music.

going back to straight up hardcore punk on this post. state released this in 1983 on Statement records. they released some other stuff but i've been told that it's crap compared to this. i think this was posted at kbd but only two tracks. so here it is in it's entirety. it's been bootlegged on reagan era and re-issued by Havoc records. get the great insert in the scans, includes lyrics. not really much too say so here's the music.

well i've spent most of my time ripping tapes. those rips are horrible so they won't be posted. i'll post something soon. for real this time. but first i'd like to make some recommendations.

first up, H.R.S. records with some great releases. two to be exact. their first is a comp called Killed by Modern Problems Volume 1. i think we all know where that came from. KBD! (oh and if anyone wonders why i call early punk KBD punk, it's because the comps, not the site (although the site is awesome.)) anyway, the comp is great. bands like School Jerks, Rich White Males and much more. just look at the track listing at the HRS blog (link below). Dave G. you might like this cause there is a Social Circkle track, "youngster on the force." i think you might know it. and The Trites song sounds similar, vocals. so green/black/white tapes. white available still. volume one, and more volumes to come! buy it here: KBMP V.1. their second release is the School Jerks/Negative Lifestyle tape. it's great from two of my favourite bands at the moment. buy it from above link.

my next thought is that you should get the Boogie Nazis pearl harbor sessions tape. great surf punk. i think a proper review is in the future for that release. ryan from the band also runs a zine called Splasher so get that at the same time. it's about skating and surf punk. send in your contributions. oh and thanks ryan for TICS tape too.

well i think it's about time for another zine review. this one being from way back in 1981. great zine and has the best reviews i've ever seen in a zine. all the dischord 7"s and many more. great interviews with tsol, wasted youth and black flag (right when henri became singer). and lots of other stuff too. get every ripper zine, if you can find em.

the reason i chose to do this is because the TSOL interview. that is what inspired me to re-post their 12", which i did in the previous post. i decided to scan a great picture of jack dressed in women's clothing, makeup and some kind of beret. the caption reads "If we put out record after record of political stuff, it would just be boring." sadly their next record, which isn't political, isn't very good. some good songs but just doesn't sound like the same band.

so yes the real reason i posted this was to show this photo.

tsol short for "true sounds of liberty." this was one of the first hardcore records i'd ever heard. since then i've tried to get this album. initially i though this was a 7" because i found it on 7inchpunk (website). so i didn't buy it because all the ones for sale said 12". recently i found out it is a 12", so (hopefully there are some 7" bootlegs out there).

1. superficial love 5/5 (best song on here. fast.)

2. property is theft 5/5 (great vocals. also fast.)

3. no way out 5/5 (nice vocals.)

4. abolish government/silent majority 4/5 (not a fan of the chanting thing.)

5. world war III 4/5 (it's fast.)

overall: 9/10 recommended (easily available on CD with some other record on it too. if i didn't say it enough times already: 12" 7" 12" 7" 12" 7" 12 " 7" 12" 7" there you go.)

man i had busy weekend. i'm still reading Please Kill Me (strongly recommended) every night so i was basically didn't get any sleep. speaking of books, i just bought that complete touch and go zine book thing and the new book Why Be Something That You're Not. it's about the punk scene from 1979-1985. Revelation records released it and are in the works for another punk book but it's going into the 90's so i'm not getting it. speaking of the 90's, here's The Maggotz.

i was reading a post on Last Days and it inspired me to post this (the post was a 90's punk record). this was released on Nose Pick records in 1993 (the year i was born. now you all know my age). limited to 1000 and i have #785. this is how i got it. i was looking through my itunes and came across these two tracks (track one and two of this release) by the maggots. they were great. i didn't know where the tracks came from. so i searched for the maggots but couldn't find anything (later i realized it had a "z" at the end and not a "s"). then it hit me, mat dafuc. so i contacted him a found out that he ripped the tracks from his vinyl. he sent me some pics (we have the same couch) and i said now i just need a hard copy. couldn't find it anywhere. so i asked him if he knew where to get it and he found a place. he also found me that copy of The Spasms 7". thank you mat. so i went to the site bought it along with two other 7"s and about 10 zines. anyway, this record has the two best songs to come out of the 90's then the rest is just ok. crank the first two songs, short as hell too! enough of my yammering.

get it from Stanton Park records along with tons of other stuff. in the scans i didn't connect the inside scan because it's easier to read the lyrics this way.
